SIOBHÁN RYAN
B.CORP. LAW INT., LL.B., SOLICITOR
About SIOBHÁN RYAN:
Admitted as a solicitor in 2010, Siobhán has extensive experience in the areas of medical negligence and catastrophic personal injury litigation. She specialises in plaintiff medical negligence cases and the bringing of claims against public and private hospitals as well as medical practitioners, dental practitioners and pharmacists for negligently inflicted harm.
Siobhán's practice is in the High Court or appellate courts and has successfully brought many of high value and complex cases. Siobhán has a particular interest in negligently inflicted gynaecological injuries and birth related injuries affecting mothers. She is a skilled litigator in cancer misdiagnosis cases (breast, cervical, ovarian, endometrial and laryngeal) and has considerable experience in the area of case management where cases are so urgent that they require urgent priority before the High Court when life expectancy is anticipated to be short.
In the CervicalCheck controversy relating to the delayed diagnosis of cervical cancer for many women, Siobhán has acted in most of the cases to come before the Courts to date. She acted for Vicky Phelan who uncovered the CervicalCheck audit and went on to act in many other cases, most notable the ‘M’ and ‘K’ cases and the important test case of Ruth & Paul Morrissey in both the High Court and Supreme Court.
Prior to joining Cian O’Carroll Solicitors, Siobhán worked as in-house solicitor with a Professional Regulator in Dublin practising in the areas of Administrative Law and Professional Healthcare Regulatory Law and sitting as a solicitor with the Preliminary Proceedings Committee. She is therefore particularly experienced on fitness to practise issues that arise from complaints made against healthcare professionals.
Siobhán is also admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales.
